Szczecin Music Fest (SMF) is the first festival in Szczecin presenting the most important figures of world music and jazz. We hope that artists of many styles and genres would present their music at SMF and they all will have the same aim- world music-

As far as world music is concerned, it is a very important modern music genre and it is appreciated by people all around the world. It is often wrongly associated only with folk music, while it is one of the most influential music genres which takes inspiration from many sources. World music is latin music (salsa, son, tango, bossa nova etc.), afro, reggae, Arabic music as well as blues, jazz, hip hop and many other styles. We all know names such as  Buena Vista Social Club, Cesaria Evora, Gotan Project, Angelique Kidjo, Salif Keita, Youssou N`Dour, Natasha Atlas and Ofra Haza.

The aim of SMF is to present world music and jazz of the highest world standard and to promote new and valuable phenomena within this genres.

Szczecin has many features which make it an important world music centre in our country. It has:
- geographical position- at the crossing of northern and southern, western and eastern trails, proximity of the sea and the German border.
- multiculturality and tradition (repatriates from the East, German, Scandinavian and even Jewish influences as well as Pomeranian tradition together with Hanza heritage)

Szcecin Music Fest is likely to become not only the most representative event in our city but also an important artistic event in a country-scale.

We expect SMF to become an acknowledged artistic event in Poland and an exceptional musical event for our city and region. the presence of world-famous artists is not only the guarantee of a successful event but also gives a very good opportunity to promote our city.
